Job Description

The Environment Agency creates better places for people, wildlife, and the environment. We put the climate emergency at the heart of everything we do and help society adapt to environmental challenges such as flooding, drought, sea‑level rise, and coastal change. Our asset management business system includes carbon management to meet our corporate objective of becoming a Net Zero Carbon organisation. Carbon management is embedded in both the delivery of our infrastructure programme and in our management of assets. The team supports all EA teams and suppliers in their use of carbon tools and ensures they become a core asset‑management system operating alongside other AMBST‑supported tools for the infrastructure programme and asset management.

Responsibilities

* Support EA and external users of operational carbon tools.
* Manage and deliver a range of services to users of carbon tools.
* Agree on and maintain services with a range of user groups.
* Act as a senior product user for digital improvement projects of our carbon tools and data.
* Plan and manage user activities in the implementation of carbon‑tool changes and improvements.
* Manage the resources and funding for carbon‑tools support and maintenance.
* Work with operational carbon communities and national leads.
* Collaborate with IT suppliers and others within the EA, including colleagues in FCRM, Operations teams throughout England, and Defra’s Digital, Data and Technology Services (DDTS).
* Engage with Local Authorities, Water Companies, Internal Drainage Boards, and the civil engineering supply chain.

Qualifications

* Experience in asset management and/or infrastructure business processes.
* Experience in digital tool development or user‑implementation services.
* Experience in training development and documentation.
* Knowledge and skills in stakeholder engagement and effective communications.
* Ability to identify, analyse, evaluate, and implement improved ways of working.
* Ability to take decisions and solve complex business problems.
* Strong focus on efficiency, innovation, and quality.
* Strong focus on customers and partners and ability to build and sustain relationships.
* Ability to manage yourself and work on your own initiative.

Contact and Additional Information

The role is predominantly office‑based, but travel will be required occasionally. Any location for your office base is acceptable.

Everyone that joins is required to undertake training and participate in incident response when the need arises. Further information regarding incident response, this role and the employee benefits can be found in the candidate pack.

There are fully funded opportunities to develop further academic/professional qualifications.

Interview Schedule

Interviews will be scheduled from week commencing 1st December 2025.
