Role
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at The Shires – Stretton. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will operate within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working and will hold a speech and language therapy caseload, supported by a clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician. You will also contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
Responsibilities
* Deliver assessment and intervention to pupils with complex communication profiles.
* Maintain clinically appropriate caseload and keep accurate records.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to formulate support plans.
* Participate in staff training, peer reflection forums and professional development.
* Support pupils in developing independence within the education setting.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
* Relevant experience working with individuals presenting complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings.
* Experience of communicating with families, relatives and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice.
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools and intervention types and ability to formulate support plans.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.
* Collaborative working style within multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the group.
Desirable Criteria
* Understanding of how sensory and motor differences impact communication.
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
