Position Summary
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. The role involves analysing project specifications, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors, and supporting project teams to ensure bids and budgets are realistic and profitable.
Key Responsibilities
* Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand scope and requirements.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor costs.
* Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
* Analyse project risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates.
* Collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and design teams to refine project costs.
* Maintain cost databases, estimating templates, and historical records.
* Contribute to bid submissions and support tender presentations as required.
* Monitor market rates, material costs, and industry trends to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
* Assist in post-project reviews to improve future estimating accuracy.
Personal SpecificationKnowledge and Experience
* Previous experience as a Construction Estimator or in a similar role.
* Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
* Familiarity with standard construction contracts and tender processes.
* Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, Excel).
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations and quality standards in construction.
