Are you a Brand Designer with the vision and drive to redefine how a brand shows up in the world? We’re looking for a creative lead to spearhead our brand refresh, someone who can translate strategy into striking visual storytelling and build a brand identity that reflects who we are today and where we’re headed next.
This is a freelance opportunity with real influence. You'll work closely with our internal team and key stakeholders to bring our brand strategy and values to life across key touchpoints. We’re open to working with designers from a range of backgrounds - what matters most is your ability to combine thoughtful design with storytelling, and your enthusiasm for collaborating on a brand with purpose.
About us
We are Canvas8, a strategic insights practice operating out of London, New York, Los Angeles, and Singapore. We help our clients understand people so they can make better business decisions.
Our work investigates the hidden insights in everyday life – from the psychology of boredom to teenage make-up rituals to why Barbiecore is a Gen Y thing – and makes them meaningful for brands. Our team is a blend of disciplines and skills – from psychology to journalism and anthropology to behavioural economics. What unites them is a desire to understand people and a passion for delivering outstanding work.
About the role
This is an exciting journey to co-create the heart of Canvas8's visual presence. You'll be the guiding hand behind our brand's revitalisation, from refreshing our identity and shaping the expression of the brand strategy through a compelling brand idea, to crafting core brand assets. It's a chance to make a significant impact, translating our strategic vision into a powerful, human-centred visual experience that resonates deeply with clients and colleagues.
Day-to-day
1. Lead creative exploration and ideation to develop an overarching Brand Idea that forms the basis of our brand platform
2. Design and develop a comprehensive Visual Identity, presenting multiple versions and refining the preferred concept for final sign-off
3. Define and simplify the brand architecture, creating a clear framework for products and initiatives within the Canvas8 masterbrand
4. Create the definitive Canvas8 Brand Book, serving as the brand bible that visually articulates our strategy, narrative, maxims, and brand idea.
5. Develop robust Brand Guidelines for consistent application across all print and digital mediums
6. Ideate and oversee the production of a short (max 30-second) Canvas8 Intro Film to highlight our proposition
7. Design and build core templates, including a comprehensive Master Google Slides, a refined Pitch Deck, and a dedicated Case Study slide template
8. Present creative concepts and design solutions to key internal stakeholders, effectively articulating your vision and rationale
9. Actively incorporate feedback from various stakeholders, demonstrating flexibility while championing strong creative ideas
About you
You're a true visual storyteller, someone who intuitively grasps how colours, fonts, and layouts can bring a brand's soul to life. More than just making things look good, you design with purpose, making sure every pixel tells a strategic story that resonates.
You’re adaptable and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of craft. You bring your ideas with confidence but are just as comfortable listening and refining based on feedback. You know that great design is rarely created in isolation and that collaboration sharpens the outcome.
What stands out to us is your curiosity. You may be new to exploring human behaviour and culture in depth, and that’s completely okay. What matters most is your willingness to learn, ask questions, and stay open. This mindset is key to helping us create a brand that connects in meaningful ways.
