Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, passionate and dynamic Food Service Manager to oversee operations on a temporary basis for a six-month maternity cover. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily food service activities at our Community Supermarket and Free Café, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in hospitality and team leadership to contribute during a critical period.
Alongside day-to-day operations, you'll play a key role in developing the service, managing resources, and building relationships across the community.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
* Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food safety compliance and adherence to hygiene standards.
* Manage and lead a team of kitchen staff and volunteers fostering a positive and productive working environment.
* Ensure timely food production and service in accordance with organisational standards and customer expectations.
* Maintain stock levels, oversee inventory management, and liaise with suppliers as necessary.
* Handle customer enquiries or complaints professionally, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
* Implement health and safety policies across the food service area, conducting regular checks and training sessions.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations during service hours.
* Monitor budgets and department spend
Skills
* Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and overall kitchen management within a hospitality or restaurant environment.
* Strong supervisory experience with demonstrated team management skills.
* Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
* Leadership qualities that motivate staff and foster teamwork.
* Good communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, service members and partners.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: £14.50 per hour
