We have an opportunity for a dedicated individual to join us as a Slow Sand Filter Operator at our Water Production Site in Ashford Common.
The role involves managing the water treatment process, including cleaning and maintaining Slow Sand Filters, to ensure the supply of high-quality drinking water. Responsibilities include routine checks, maintenance, and operation of mobile plant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine checks, maintenance, and operate mobile plant to meet service standards.
2. Manage skimming filters, GAC removal/relaying, and re-sanding of SSFs.
3. Operate specialist mobile equipment such as skimmers, shovels, dumpers, excavators, and Floatex plant.
4. Maintain site housekeeping and conduct plant checks and maintenance.
5. Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
Working Conditions:
Location: Ashford Common - TW15 1RU
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 07:30-16:17, with every second Friday off (38 hours/week)
Candidate Requirements:
* Self-motivated, disciplined, eager to learn, and a team player.
* Proactive in fault response and problem-solving.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Basic literacy, numeracy, and digital skills.
* Willing to undergo safety training.
* Preferably hold or be willing to obtain a 7 Tonne Dumper license, with experience in excavators, shovels, and sand skimmers advantageous.
