Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to support a bright, creative, and intelligent 15‑year‑old girl living in Penzance who has ADHD and traits associated with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The role involves providing emotional support, helping her develop confidence and social skills, and guiding her in personal strategies for managing anxiety and establishing safe boundaries.
Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one emotional support and companionship.
* Help the girl develop confidence, social skills, and strategies for managing anxiety.
* Establish safe boundaries and guide her in maintaining them.
* Build a supportive, trusting relationship through interests such as football, gaming, swimming, dancing, experimenting with makeup, watching TV, and cinema trips.
Qualifications
* Experience working with young people on the autism spectrum or other neurodiverse conditions is highly advantageous.
* Full driving licence desirable but not essential.
* Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check as administered by Cornwall Council.
Working Arrangement & Benefits
* Employment under a private arrangement with the family; not with Cornwall Council.
* Rate of pay: £13.45 per hour.
* Travel allowance: £0.45 per mile for journeys while escorting the girl.
* Hours: 6 hours per week, flexible scheduling. Preference for Wednesday or Friday afternoons/evenings, weekends, and school holidays.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
