Key Responsibilities
Independently assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute, chronic, and same-day conditions.
Request, interpret and act on diagnostic investigations and imaging as appropriate.
Prescribe medication independently (V300 qualification required) and optimise treatment plans inline with best practice.
Contribute to the management of long‑term conditions and urgent care clinics.
Support triage, digital consultation, and online form workflow.
Participate in quality improvement, clinical audit, and significant event analysis.
Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior clinicians and ARRS colleagues.
Engage in weekly supervision and protected education sessions.

About Thamesmead Medical Associates www.thamesmeadmedical.org is a large, well‑established GP training practice in South East London with approximately 16,000 registered patients. The practice is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and provides high‑quality, patient‑centred care to a diverse local population. We are a recognised training environment for GP registrars and Foundation Doctors and have a broad multidisciplinary team including ARRS roles such as pharmacists, paramedics, and social prescribing link workers. The practice offers a supportive and progressive environment, with weekly protected education time, regular supervision, and active involvement in teaching, service development, and quality improvement.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Level 7) or equivalent advanced practice qualification.
* Registration with the appropriate professional body (NMC or HCPC).
* Independent Prescribing qualification (V300 or equivalent).
* Minimum of 2 years post‑qualification experience in general practice.
* Demonstrable ability to manage undifferentiated presentations, chronic disease, and urgent care workload.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Commitment to clinical governance, safe prescribing, and continuous professional development.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in clinical leadership, service redesign, or quality improvement projects.
* Expertise in chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, COPD, hypertension).
* Familiarity with ARRS and PCN workforce structures.
* Experience supervising trainees or contributing to educational activities.
