Consultant in Plastic Surgery

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and committed individuals to join Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a Consultant in Plastic Surgery. This new post will be based at Kings Mill Hospital with sessions at Newark Hospital.
The successful candidates will take a lead in implementation of tele dermatology services and development.
This new post also offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the clinical development of the Dermatology service across Nottinghamshire with support in training and integration of community services with secondary care.
This is a full‑time position but candidates wishing to work part‑time or in a job‑share are encouraged to apply. If a part‑time or job‑share person is appointed modification of the job content will be discussed with the appointee on a personal basis. They will be required to devote substantially the whole of his/her time for the appointed sessions to the duties of the post and to give them priority at these times.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties
1. Assist in the provision and development of a safe, effective and efficient Plastic Surgery service and support the Trust and its network in providing the best possible care to patients.
2. Carry out all duties at the highest possible standard and in accordance with current quality initiatives within your area of work.
3. Cover for colleagues annual leave and other authorised absence.
4. Any other duties that may be required from time to time.
5. Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.
6. Carry out his/her duties with due regard to the Trusts Equal Opportunities Policy at all times.
7. Comply with Trust Health and Safety policies and maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.
8. Have knowledge of and employ the basic principles of infection control practice and ensure adherence to the requirements in the Infection Control Manual.

Qualifications
* Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview.
Experience
* Experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job plan.
* Understanding of all aspects of skin cancer care.
* Ability to maintain clinical credibility and authority with a multi‑professional team including senior trainees.
* Five years of supervised training in an appropriate SpR equivalent training programme.
Teaching
* Demonstrable ability as a teacher with evidence of training for the role.
Research
* Ability to convert research evidence into clinical practice.
* Publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
* Ability to effectively organise and manage clinical workload.
* The potential to develop management and leadership skills.
Other
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies.
* Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and the requirements of Clinical Governance and Audit.
* Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.
