Supported by the Enforcement Team Leader and three Senior Planners, you will be responsible for your own caseload, which will primarily involve researching site histories, carrying out site inspections, recording and collating evidence and assisting with the issuing of formal notices. This varied, interesting and rewarding role includes liaising with members of the public, internal staff and Councillors, and a broad range of external agencies. It therefore requires diplomacy, effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with confrontational situations, and may occasionally require giving evidence at Court and / or Public Inquiries. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): Investigate complaints concerning alleged breaches of planning control in accordance with the council’s adopted policies. Monitor development in progress to ensure that work is being carried out in accordance with the terms of relevant planning permissions and listed building consents granted by the District Council or the Secretary of State. Monitor compliance with conditions attached to planning permissions and take action as appropriate to remedy failure to comply. Liaise with Warwickshire County Council to ensure compliance with highways, archaeological and ecological planning conditions as appropriate. Preparing and serving, as appropriate, Planning Contravention Notices and Requisition of Information Notices. Preparing and giving evidence in court in connection with injunction proceedings, unlawful breaches of planning control including non-compliance with formal notices and offences relating to listed building, protected trees and advertisement legislation. Experience of Development Management and planning enforcement or similar investigatory work. Knowledge of enforcement and/or legal procedures.
