Gateway Housing has been supporting communities to thrive since 1926. We are an ambitious London based housing association with over 3,000 homes in the heart of London's East End. We provide social rented homes, shared ownership, and sheltered housing. We develop new homes too and are part way through an exciting programme to deliver another 250 homes by 2025. The role

We are looking for a Service Charge Analyst to provide detailed, regular analysis of service charge costs, including variance and trend analysis, and comparison to income receivable. Identify any necessary corrections to ensure that financial records are maintained on an accurate, complete and timely basis.
The post holder will support the preparation, and control of service charges and sinking funds, annual service charge estimates and actuals processes including associated scheme reconciliations.
A strong focus on delivery, change management, problem solving and an ethos of customer service, combined with a strong character and a good sense of humour will be required to succeed in this exciting and rewarding role.

Accountabilities

Your accountabilities will include but not limited to:
Support the processing, accounting, monitoring and control of service charge income and costs on a periodic basis and assisting with the preparation of annual budgets and in year reforecasts.
Prepare periodic reconciliations of service charge income and costs on a scheme/block level and assist with the preparation of annual service charge estimates and actuals processes for all tenures
Support the design and implementation of strategic delivery projects across the organization, particularly relating to service charge specific projects
Review, monitor and control actual service charge income and costs compared to budget/forecast on a monthly basis and prepare and post adjustments (e.g., accruals, prepayments, corrections), as appropriate
Assist with preparing estimated and actual service charges statements and reconciling actuals to estimates for all tenures and supporting the review, analysis and production of the final outputs
Ensuring consistent apportionment and allocation of scheme costs in mixed tenure blocks and other complex schemes and regular monitoring, control and analysis of such costs.

Key skills, knowledge and experience:
AAT qualified or part qualified accountant or suitable alternative commensurate experience
Strong digital skills including Excel and specialist finance & housing management systems
Experience in service charge computation, accounting and analysis, including preparation of service charge budgets, estimates and actuals
Robust understanding of residential service charge management, including current legislative requirements and sector best practice
High levels of attention to detail
Regulatory framework of UK social housing and policies and legislation affecting service charges and rent setting
Accounting standards and practices relevant to the UK social housing sector
