Contract: Full time, up to 12 months (maternity cover)
University College Birmingham is seeking an experienced student support professional to provide leadership to its established Sexual Misconduct and Harassment support team. This post is to cover a period of maternity leave for up to 12 months.
As part of the ambitious Student Support and Wellbeing directorate, the Sexual Misconduct and Harassment support team provides expert advice and guidance to students who have been victims of or reported for any form of sexual misconduct or harassment. The team is driven by a passion to ensure all students are appropriately supported.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with demonstrable experience of delivering and managing a sexual misconduct support service within a relevant educational setting.
Working as part of the directorate’s senior management team, the postholder will build excellent relationships across the institution and with external partners and stakeholders and will be expected to play a key role in strengthening our approach to supporting students. The successful candidate will bring significant experience of working with and supporting young people and students in a similar setting.
With a focus on awareness, engagement and prevention, the Deputy Head of Student Support (Sexual Misconduct and Harassment) will use their excellent leadership, management and innovation skills to ensure that all students receive support when they need it.
The successful candidate will be expected to start in role in late May / early June 2026.
Responsibilities
The postholder will:
* Provide leadership to the Sexual Misconduct and Harassment support team within the Student Support and Wellbeing directorate.
* Develop and implement services to support students who have experienced sexual misconduct or harassment, including awareness, engagement and prevention activities.
* Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to strengthen safeguarding and student support across the institution.
* Lead and manage staff, develop policies and procedures, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications and experience
* Significant experience of delivering and managing a sexual misconduct support service within an educational setting.
* Proven ability to build relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners.
* Strong leadership, management, and innovative thinking skills.
* Experience working with and supporting young people and students in similar contexts.

Salary: £42,254 to £47,389 per annum. Salary Grade: SS7/8
