Wayman Education is working with a welcoming primary in Manchester to appoint a skilled Year 2 Teacher. The successful Year 2 Teacher will deliver a well-sequenced KS1 programme that secures strong progress in phonics, reading, writing and number. This Year 2 Teacher will lead targeted booster sessions where needed, contribute to assessment moderation and work closely with families to ensure continuity of learning from reception into KS2. The role begins January 2026, with induction scheduled in the weeks before January 2026 to ensure the Year 2 Teacher can start confidently.

About the role
The Year 2 Teacher will plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners, lead phonics and guided-reading sessions and maintain accurate assessment records. The Year 2 Teacher will also work with teaching assistants to deliver focused interventions and will contribute to the wider life of the school in Manchester, including parent consultations and enrichment activities.
Key responsibilities
* Create and deliver high-quality Year 2 lessons with clear progression and differentiation.
* Use assessment to identify gaps and run effective small-group interventions that accelerate progress.
* Maintain accurate records, contribute to moderation and communicate clearly with families.
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth transition into Key Stage 2 and to share best practice.
* Contribute to extracurricular and pastoral programmes across Manchester.
Person specification
* QTS or equivalent with proven experience in KS1 and Year 2 classroom success.
* Strong phonics knowledge, assessment literacy and ability to design targeted interventions.
* Excellent communication skills and a nurturing approach to children's development.
* Willing to join the Manchester school community in January 2026 and to take part in pre-term induction.
