European Marketing Events Specialist
Location:
London
Team:
European Marketing, within the European Commercial Team
Reports to:
European Marketing Director
Level:
Specialist
The role
The European Marketing Events Specialist supports L.E.K.’s go-to-market priorities in Europe by delivering full-service, end-to-end execution of external events and conference sponsorships. The role owns the complete event lifecycle: planning and delivery, commercial and vendor management, and the full marketing and follow-up engine around each event (pre-event promotion, outreach, registration management, post-event follow-up, and performance reporting). The role focuses on sector and service line events (in-person and virtual), working closely with Partners, Business Development, Knowledge teams and global marketing colleagues to drive senior‑level engagement, strengthen relationships, and generate measurable commercial outcomes.
This is an execution‑led role at Specialist level: work is delivered with strong organisation, low iteration required, and effective coordination across stakeholders, with clear direction from senior colleagues.
Key responsibilities
Events planning and calendar management
* Build and maintain the Europe events calendar across priority sectors, service lines, and offices, aligned to regional commercial priorities and Partner go‑to‑market plans
* Translate event objectives into end‑to‑end execution plans, including target audience definition, timelines, roles, deliverables, and success measures (for example: client engagement, pipeline progression, visibility)
* Maintain event checklists, timelines, and standard templates to ensure consistent, repeatable delivery across Europe
Event delivery and sponsorship execution
* Execute European proprietary events such as executive roundtables, breakfasts, receptions, and content‑rich client events, including venue research, contracting, vendor coordination, run‑of‑show, and on‑site delivery
* Support industry conference participation and sponsorship activation, ensuring L.E.K. maximises benefits (brand visibility, speaking opportunities, curated client meetings, follow‑up lists)
* Coordinate all event materials and production inputs (AV, room set‑up, catering, name badges, signage, speaker support, briefing packs), ensuring L.E.K. brand standards and a high‑quality attendee experience
* Drive delivery readiness through tight project management, risk tracking, and early escalation of decisions and issues
Event marketing and outreach (owned end to end)
* Own and execute the full marketing plan for each event, working with the European marketing team and relevant global colleagues to deliver consistent, high‑quality promotion and follow‑up
* Develop and execute invitation and registration journeys, including list development, segmentation, messaging briefs, invitation builds, registration management, confirmations, reminders, and practical attendee communications
* Coordinate outreach before and after the event to prospects, registrants, attendees, and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely follow‑up actions and clear next steps (for example: thank‑you notes, content sharing, meeting requests, referrals to BD or Partners)
* Coordinate development and trafficking of event‑related marketing communications (for example: social media posts), ensuring approvals, timing, and brand alignment
* Maintain accurate invitee and attendee tracking in Salesforce and support handover of priority follow‑up actions to BD and Partner teams
Stakeholder and partner engagement
* Partner with internal stakeholders across Europe (Partners, BDMs, sector specialists, Knowledge, office leadership) to clarify objectives, audiences, roles, and success measures for each event
* Engage credibly and directly with senior clients and senior external stakeholders, including co‑sponsoring partners such as investment banks, law firms, and private equity funds, to align expectations, confirm deliverables, and manage a professional end‑to‑end experience
* Act as a reliable day‑to‑day point of contact for event execution, escalating decisions and risks early and clearly to the European Marketing Director
Data, reporting, and continuous improvement
* Track, analyse, and report event performance metrics end to end (for example: registrations, attendance rate, seniority mix, client and prospect mix, engagement and drop‑off points, follow‑up actions), and coordinate post‑event debriefs with stakeholders
* Produce clear post‑event reporting with insights and recommended improvements, linking activity to commercial objectives where possible (for example: meetings set, follow‑up conversions, pipeline influence)
* Identify practical improvements to processes and templates to reduce effort per event while increasing consistency, quality, and measurable impact
Budget and operational management
* Support budget tracking for events and sponsorships, including supplier quotes, purchase requests, accruals, and reconciliation, in line with internal policies
* Engage directly with venues on both logistics and commercial terms, including negotiating favourable rates, minimum spends, cancellation clauses, and value‑adds (for example: AV packages, room hire, upgraded catering, branding opportunities)
* Coordinate vendor management (venues, agencies, production partners) including briefing, timelines, and delivery quality control
* Ensure appropriate risk management and compliance steps are followed (for example: contract routing, data/privacy considerations for attendee lists)
Qualifications and requirements
* Bachelor’s degree (marketing, communications, business, hospitality, or related field preferred)
* Typically 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in events and event marketing, ideally in B2B or professional services
* Demonstrated ability to own the full event lifecycle, including event marketing, outreach, registration journeys, and post‑event follow‑up and reporting
* Proven ability to engage directly and credibly with senior clients and senior external stakeholders, including co‑sponsors and partner organisations
* Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams at once with strong attention to detail and deadline discipline
* Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable coordinating with senior internal stakeholders and external vendors
* Working knowledge of Salesforce (or similar CRM experience, with willingness to use Salesforce as the primary system)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel)
* Willingness to travel occasionally for European event delivery (frequency dependent on calendar)
Working relationships
* European Marketing team and wider European Commercial team
* Partners and practice leaders across European offices
* Business Development and client relationship teams
* Knowledge teams and sector specialists
* Global marketing colleagues, as required for shared systems, templates, and brand standards
* External stakeholders including venues, agencies, conference organisers, and co‑sponsors (investment banks, law firms, private equity funds)
What success looks like in the first 12 months
* A clearly managed European events calendar that supports priority sector and service line plans, with reliable end‑to‑end execution and strong stakeholder confidence
* Consistently high‑quality delivery across a steady cadence of events (in‑person and virtual) with strong pre‑event promotion, high‑quality attendee communications, disciplined follow‑up, and measurable reporting
* Strong operating rhythm: standard templates, repeatable processes, accurate budgets, and low‑iteration delivery with continuous improvement based on outcomes
