Post Details – An exciting opportunity has arisen within the State Hospitals AHP team for an AHP Support Worker on a permanent basis.
The State Hospital provides specialist forensic mental health care for patients that, due to the risk they pose to themselves or others, require provisions of high security.
We are a small hospital and have a large and diverse AHP team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Dietetics and Speech and Language Therapy and Arts Therapists. In addition, we have Physiotherapy and Podiatry on a weekly basis at the Health Centre.
The AHP team work across the hospital site and are based within Multi-Disciplinary Teams within each of the 4 hubs. As such, you may work with patients within the wards, hubs, Skye Centre or the hospital grounds.
As part of this dynamic team, working in partnership with members of with AHP and wider MDT team, you will carry out AHP led interventions to support the delivery of specific treatments and interventions as identified by a qualified member of the AHP team.
The remit of the AHP support worker is to work independently or as part of a group to support patients with the multifaceted aspects of rehabilitation for recovery and engagement. You would also play an active and important role in health improvement and health promotion, working within the parameters of local and national policies.
Experience – You should have an SVQ level 3 (or equivalent) SVQ level 3 or other equivalent
in a health related/AHP area. You should have Demonstrable experience within a mental
health setting and be motivated and committed to work with patients with a mental health
diagnosis and/or Intellectual Disability within secure care. You should have experience of
group work as well as being confident to work with patients on a 1:1 basis.
