As a Senior Product Safety Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary, you'll play a pivotal role in strengthening Product Safety capability across our Nuclear Sector, supporting major naval and civil nuclear programmes. This is an opportunity to influence engineering safety from concept through to delivery – ensuring systems are safe by design, compliant with legislation, and underpinned by strong governance.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development, implementation and maintenance of Product Safety management arrangements across nuclear programmes
* Provide expert guidance on hazard identification, risk assessment, safety justification and compliance with legislation and standards
* Develop and review Product Safety Management Plans and associated safety documentation
* Influence engineering teams and stakeholders to embed best practice and drive continuous improvement
* Contribute to assurance, audit and governance activities, reporting safety metrics and supporting improvement actions
This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week, based at Devonport or Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available and you will work a minimum of two days a week on site.
Professional Experience and Skills
* Experience working with safety management systems in high‑hazard or high‑consequence industries
* Understanding of UK civil and defence safety legislation and standards
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Knowledge of change management and project environments
* A proactive, resilient approach to continuous improvement
Qualifications
* Degree or higher in a STEM discipline
* Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards (Desirable)
* APM Foundation qualification (Desirable)
* Lean Six Sigma White Belt (Desirable)

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
