About the Role
Senior Health Care Assistant at Bethany House & Lodge, Dymchurch.
Responsibilities
* Effectively lead the shift by ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times.
* Shift and people management.
* Address staff issues such as timekeeping and attendance promptly.
* Conduct regular supervisions for staff.
* Ensure that each service user has a key worker and that the key worker role is implemented.
* Maintain up-to-date risk assessments and person‑centered plans and review with the service manager.
* Monitor performance levels of staff and identify areas for improvement.
* Mentor staff to develop their skills.
* Ensure service users receive support within the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
* Manage petty cash within company guidelines.
* Administer medication in accordance with procedures.
* Deliver on‑job training and guidance.
* Oversee preparation of medical/neurology appointments and letters.
* Cover support health care assistant role as required to meet service needs.
* Represent Active Care Group when liaising with external stakeholders including medical professionals, care managers, families, advocates, therapists, and prospective service users.
* Support referral activities by attending service user assessments and hosting service visits.
* Attend and prepare service user reviews.
* Observe and operate in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Be part of the on‑call team.
* Attend and complete all mandatory training.
* Undertake any other duties reasonably required to meet changing service needs and ensure service user needs and business objectives are met.
Hours & Pay
* Shift rota based on every other weekend, 42 hours per week, 1 night shift.
* Night shift hours 20:00 to 08:15, scheduled as 36/48 or 42/42 (3×12 & 1×6) over 2 weeks.
* 25 pence per hour uplift for night hours.
* Salary £32,521.59 FTE per annum pro rata.
* Role shared between House and Lodge.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
* Experienced care worker.
* Experience in care is required.
* Proven reliability in full attendance and timekeeping.
* Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
* Self‑confidence and ability to manage challenging situations.
