An organisation is seeking an Interim Research Accountant to support with clearing a backlog of research accounts, ensuring accurate reconciliation and timely close-down of a varied portfolio of projects.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Reconciling and closing a portfolio of research and grant-funded accounts
2. Reviewing account balances to identify surpluses or deficits and determining appropriate actions
3. Supporting the resolution of outstanding financial issues across projects
4. Assisting with monthly reporting and providing insight to senior stakeholders
5. Ensuring accurate financial management across both commercial and non-commercial projects
The successful candidate will have:
6. Experience managing research or grant-funded accounts within a complex organisation
7. Strong reconciliation skills and the ability to resolve historic accounting issues
8. Experience working with NHS funding or within an NHS environment — essential
9. Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant status (or equivalent experience)
10. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
11. Familiarity with large financial systems
