Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking an adaptable and enthusiastic Teacher of PE and Computing to join our small, specialised independent school. With a therapeutic and holistic approach to education, we’re dedicated to creating a supportive, evidence-based learning environment for students requiring additional care.
You’ll teach both PE and Computing to small classes of up to 12 students, with the support of a minimum of 2 adults per class. Our curriculum is designed to foster growth and learning in a safe, nurturing setting, with an emphasis on addressing the SEMH and special educational needs of vulnerable young people. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply, and Instructor Teachers with suitable experience will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver engaging and tailored PE and Computing lessons, adapting instruction to meet students’ diverse SEMH and learning needs.
2. Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged to achieve their potential.
3. Collaborate with school staff, therapists, and other specialists to provide holistic support and development for each student.
4. Use evidence-based teaching practices to ensure meaningful progress in both PE and Computing for each student.
5. Participate in regular meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions to contribute to our forward-thinking educational model.
Requirements:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent; Instructor Teachers with relevant experience may be considered.
7. Previous UK teaching experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked in SEN or SEMH settings.
8. The ability to teach both PE and Computing confidently and creatively.
9. A nurturing, empathetic approach to working with children and young people with additional needs.
10. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
