You’ll join a supportive team of experienced educators and work closely with external professionals, including speech and language therapists and educational psychologists.
Your Role as a Graduate Speech and Language Teaching Assistant
You will support children with difficulties related to:
* Speech sound development
* Expressive and receptive language
* Social communication
* Conditions such as Autism, ADHD, or Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to develop communication and language skills
* Adapt classroom tasks and vocabulary to suit individual language levels
* Implement strategies recommended by speech and language therapists or the SENCO
* Encourage participation in speaking and listening activities
* Track pupil progress and contribute to intervention planning
* Build supportive, trusting relationships with pupils to foster confidence and independence

* A graduate (2:1 or above) in Speech and Language Sciences, Psychology, Linguistics, Education, English, or a related field
* Passionate about working with children and supporting those with SEN or communication difficulties
* A strong communicator with empathy, patience, and enthusiasm
* Proactive, adaptable, and keen to learn from skilled professionals
* Experienced working with children or young people (e.g. in tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering)
