We are delighted to offer full-time or part-time opportunities for Clinical or Counselling Psychologists at Band 8a within the Step 4 team, in Nottingham Adult Mental Health Directorate.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our cohesive group of clinical and counselling psychologists, working in the Step 4 Service. The Step 4 service delivers psychological therapy to people who experience a variety of mental health difficulties, including complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and co-morbid physical health conditions.
Main duties of the job
We see the role of the Step 4 psychologist as: to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, psychological interventions to improve the psychological wellbeing and quality of life of those referred to the service and support staff and trainees within the service through supervision and provide case consultation more widely across the Trust.
Job responsibilities
We support individual therapy work, through supervision with experienced colleagues in a range of therapy models, case discussion and peer supervision with the wider Step 4 team, specialist group supervision and support for further training.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Doctorate Clin/Couns Psychology and HPCP registration
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree, postgraduate doctoral degree, supplemented by short specialist courses, clinical supervision and further specialist training, experience
Experience
* Working AMH in training and ideally post qualification
* Supervising other clinicians
* Evaluating/auditing professional work
* Post qualification experience of liaison and consultation with other professionals
* Relevant post qualification experience of working psychologically with adults who have a range of mental health difficulties.
* Teaching mental health professionals about psychological issues.
* Experience of leading on clinically relevant research
* Publication of research
* Involvement in the planning and development of psychological services
* Supervising trainee or other Psychologists
Knowledge
* Theoretical knowledge of psychological therapies
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
* Extensive and up-to-date knowledge of relevant theory and research through reading and CPD.
* Critical awareness of current themes in Adult Mental Health policy and research
* Risk assessment and risk management
* Ability to undertake specialist assessments, develop formulations and provide psychological interventions.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research, design and methodology.
* Extended training/knowledge in additional interventions/assessments/models
Skills
* Skills in providing consultation and training to other professional and non-professional groups
* Planning skills to organise workload and delivery of client care
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, formulation and intervention using a range of psychological models in service users with mental health difficulties
* Effective verbal and written communication skills and relationship building skills.
