What's involved with this role: Job Title: Parking Customer Services Officer Reference: K&C 5281051 Salary: £17.73 per hour PAYE with accrued holiday and pension contribution Hours: 36 hours per week Monday-Friday Role length: 3 months opening assignment Job type: On-site Location: Kensington & Chelsea Contract Type: Temporary The role: As a Parking Customer Services Officer, you will provide an efficient, professional, and courteous service to residents and visitors of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. You will deal with a wide range of parking-related enquiries, including suspensions, licences, and enforcement matters. This front-line role combines face-to-face, telephone, and administrative duties within a busy customer service environment. Key Responsibilities: Handle customer enquiries and complaints in person and by telephone in a polite and professional manner. Process applications for parking suspensions, skip licences, and temporary structure or plant and material licences. Take and process cash, card, and cheque payments in line with Council financial regulations. Provide accurate advice on parking policies, procedures, and enforcement. Maintain and update computerised records and systems accurately. Liaise with internal departments and on-street teams to ensure suspensions and permits are correctly managed. Support the training and development of new or less experienced colleagues as required. Contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery and customer satisfaction. What the client is looking for: Proven experience within a customer service environment, ideally in a local authority or enforcement setting. Strong IT skills and ability to use multiple systems efficiently. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult or demanding customers. Organised, methodical, and able to prioritise under pressure. A proactive attitude with a commitment to teamwork and high-quality service delivery. Desirable: Experience in parking, highways, or transport administration. Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and Traffic Management Orders. Experience handling payments and financial transactions.
