This is a key operational leadership role, providing day-to-day oversight of the vision impairment specialist team and the Qualified Teacher of Multi-Sensory Impairment (QTMSI). The role contributes to the delivery of high-quality statutory provision for CYP who have vision impairment, and their families.

Working closely with the Head of Service, the Team Leader for the Deaf CYP team and the QTMSI, you will support your team, families, and partners to achieve positive outcomes for CYP across a wide range of settings and through strong multi-agency collaboration and working.

You will combine leadership responsibilities with a VI specialist teaching and advisory caseload, providing expert assessment, intervention, training, and guidance across a range of settings and contribute to service development. You will also deputise for the Head of Service when required.

The role is well suited to VI-qualified and experienced candidates who are passionate about inclusive practice, development, and leadership.

About You

* An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education / children’s services
* Ability to support and guide teaching and non-teaching colleagues, ideally across multiple settings and key stages
* Effective communication and relationship building skills, solution focused, with the ability to lead, support and inspire others
