Our Wellbeing Practitioners support people to lead full, active, and socially connected lives, helping them achieve what matters to them.
Applicants should have, or be willing to obtain, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
We are seeking a Wellbeing Practitioner to join a self-organised team supporting a very busy man living independently in Craigmillar, Edinburgh. This position is for 24 hours per week. A driving licence is essential as he owns a car. Sleepovers are included as part of the service.
About this opportunity
1. This gentleman requires assistance with daily tasks such as shopping, cooking, and housework.
2. He prefers to do as much as possible from his wheelchair and will work with you to prepare meals and clean his home. He needs additional support with personal care.
3. He works two days a week at Ikea. If successful, you will undertake an Ikea induction to assist him during these shifts, alongside Thistle Foundation training.
4. He leads an active social life, including nights out, hosting friends, holidays, and weekends away. He enjoys relaxing activities like watching football, TV, or playing Nintendo.
5. He maintains close family ties, visits when possible, and is a music enthusiast who loves singing loudly in his car. He has traveled to Spain to visit family with support from his team.
6. He stays engaged through online classes, keeping in touch with friends and family via Facetime, voice notes, and meetings over coffee.
7. Support is provided seven days a week, requiring full flexibility.
8. The role includes administrative tasks such as working on rotas, updating support plans, arranging meetings, and taking minutes. Basic IT skills are necessary, with training provided.
