What you’ll be doing
as an Asset Planner (Thames Valley)
You will own the plan for your sites and systems and stay involved in the plans as they are delivered through the sponsorship model.
Key responsibilities:
1. Lead the development of integrated site plans by facilitating cross-functional collaboration, identifying interdependencies, and determining the optimal sequencing of interventions.
2. Continuously update and maintain comprehensive site and system-level plans, adapting to project changes and reflecting evolving priorities across the asset lifecycle.
3. Gather long-term strategic input from Asset Strategy to inform PR29 planning and ensure alignment with future needs.
4. Develop and prioritise projects for the AMP, incorporating engineering insights and defining technical scope for robust SG0 submissions.
5. Create and manage system-wide plans across abstraction, treatment, storage, pumping, and sludge assets—addressing capital maintenance, growth, enhancement, and quality goals.
6. Deliver on Capital maintenance plans and the efficient spend in relation to asset health and supporting ODI's.
7. Monitor and evaluate asset condition, maintenance standards and anticipated failure rates.
8. Support external engagement activities, helping stakeholders understand and align with our strategic plans.
Base Location: Base location is flexible across multiple Thames Water sites.
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday–Friday. (36 hours per week)
What you should bring to the role
9. Strong knowledge of asset management, engineering best practices, and planning/forecasting.
10. Confident with numbers and skilled in MS Office.
11. Can communicate complex ideas clearly and simply.
12. Builds strong relationships across teams and external stakeholders.
13. Has a good understanding of regulatory processes, such as price reviews or annual returns.
14. Knowledgeable about water and wastewater systems and external impacts.
15. Influences across all levels and considers different views.
16. Able to work flexibly across multiple workstreams, responding to changes in focus.
17. Have a good understanding of risk management.
18. Professional membership of an engineering, environmental or asset management organisation is an advantage.
