I’m looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a highly regarded engineering business working on complex electro-mechanical systems for the defence sector. This is a hands-on role that combines technical quality assurance, auditing, and continuous improvement — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and has a real eye for detail.
Responsibilities include:
• Verifying configuration status of hardware and reviewing supporting documentation
• Preparing and maintaining project quality documentation throughout the full lifecycle
• Supporting and running First Article and Factory Acceptance Testing activities
• Conducting internal and external audits for process, procedure, and contract compliance
• Managing the internal audit schedule and tracking corrective actions
• Leading and supporting investigations, root cause analysis, and lessons learned reviews
• Supporting continuous improvement and supplier quality activities
What we’re looking for:
• Background in defence or other high-integrity engineering environments
• Strong understanding of electro-mechanical hardware and configuration control
• Experience carrying out quality audits (in-house and at suppliers)
• Internal Auditor qualification and 8D problem-solving experience
• Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Able to work independently and under pressure
• Quality-related qualifications such as C&G 743, IQA A3, Lead Assessor, or equivalent would be an advantage
* This is a great opportunity to join a business where quality is at the heart of everything they do. You’ll play a key role in ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining the high standards their customers expect.
