About the Role
North Lakes Children’s Services provides therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged –, helping them build resilience, confidence, and essential life skills.
We now have a Deputy Manager opportunity at our ‑bed home in Carlisle. If you’re a qualified and experienced Children’s Home Deputy Manager with an approachable, inspiring leadership style, we’d love to hear from you.
Main Duties
10. Support the Registered Manager to ensure the home meets its Statement of Purpose and delivers high‑quality care
11. Maintain strong team communication and ensure policies and procedures are followed
12. Oversee care quality, staff training, development, and supervision
13. Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and regulatory standards
14. Monitor the condition and safety of the home, equipment, and furnishings
15. Assist with budgeting, financial oversight, and accurate record‑keeping
16. Promote equality, diversity, and child protection throughout the home
17. Lead on quality assurance and continuous service improvement
18. Provide effective team leadership, supervision, and appraisals
19. Maintain confidentiality at all times
20. Support new staff through induction
About You:
21. Understanding of the challenges faced by young people in care
22. Level Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
23. Excellent communication and listening skills
24. Willingness to learn and work well within a small team
25. Ability to complete an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us)
26. Experience in EBD, social care, residential work, or youth work (advantageous)
27. Full, clean UK driving licence and ability to support other homes when needed
