The Role The OSS Engineer is responsible for delivering technical expertise across CommTel’s Operational Support Systems portfolio. This role partners closely with customers, sales, development, and support teams to, design, integrate, deploy, test and support mission‑critical OSS solutions for our customers in the UK and Europe. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain strong technical relationships with CommTel OSS customers Collaborate with the CommTel Sales team to articulate the value and capability of the technical solution Prepare and deliver technical demonstrations of OSS products Interpret customer needs and requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications Serve as the technical lead for OSS projects, ensuring quality outcomes and customer satisfaction Prepare solution design documents aligned to customer requirements and project scope Provide advisory and best‑practice guidance to customers on the effective use of CommTel OSS products Perform on-site deployment activities, including installation, patches, and software upgrades Conduct verification testing with customers to validate solution adheres to the specifications Deliver 3rd‑level technical support, including complex issue diagnosis and resolution Undertake troubleshooting across software, systems, integrations, and network layers Requirements Qualifications in Telecom, IT or Engineering 5 Years’ experience in OSS solutions Deep experience with Network Management Systems (NMS) Knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, MPLS-TP, and SDH/PDH Understanding of metrics driving network performance Experience with configuration of networking devices Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ansible) Experience with network management protocols (SNMP, ICMP, Syslog, NETCONF, Telemetry) Administration of Linux and Windows Operating Systems Understanding of software application architectures Excellent time management and organisational skills.
