Would you like to make a difference to the lives of young people?
We are looking for a qualified teacher to teach within our Enrichment & Vocational curriculum. Within this faculty, we offer a mix of typical subjects such as Design Tech, Art, Ceramics, Food Tech, but we also offer Bricklaying, Hair & Beauty, Trainer Design, Music Studio Production, and Childcare.
A Design Tech teacher joining us would be somebody who is practically skilled and imaginative. It would suit a teacher who is looking for a new challenge, working with small groups on AQA Awards on projects that might involve 'real-world trade skills' such as woodwork, basic bricklaying, basic plumbing, and small-scale electronics.
We would not expect a Design Tech teacher to be an expert in all of these but we do hope for candidates who have a strong grounding in their subject and the flexibility to train in new areas, such as bricklaying, to then deliver.
Any ability to deliver basic computing would also be a bonus.
With all of the above, the ability to work confidently with children who present at times with disengagement and impulsivity - by providing clear boundaries whilst also showing empathy - is an absolute must.
The job will provide interesting work; you will be given support to develop yourself and be creative, and the set-up will allow you to work with small numbers of children intensively - but it will also be a challenge in terms of getting pupils who have fallen out of love with learning and school life back on track.
