Job Description
Due to continued growth, we are now looking to hire an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer in Edinburgh.
You will be joining an experienced team in a predominantly office-based role, responsible for developing and delivering mechanical designs to facilitate safe and compliant installations on site.
What You Would Do
* Design in conjunction with fire strategy reports, local building regulations, and planning authority requirements.
* Attend design team meetings.
* Carry out site surveys of existing installations where applicable.
* Produce heating/cooling (thermal modelling) and ventilation load calculations using industry software.
* Sizing and selection of AHUs, FCUs, extract fans, pumps, chillers, ASHP, boilers, plate heat exchangers, etc.
* Produce above-ground drainage calculations and sizing of drainage systems.
* Sizing and selection of domestic hot and cold-water equipment (heaters, storage tanks, etc.).
* Produce pipe and duct sizing calculations using industry software or desktop spreadsheets.
* Sizing and selection of firefighting sprinkler and pumping systems (preferred but not essential).
* Produce stage reports and presentations.
* Prepare Designer's Risk Assessment and Mitigation Reports.
* Detail mechanical layouts and schematics for build.
* Meet project delivery deadlines.
* Produce detailed design and survey reports.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience in mechanical engineering building services for construction.
* Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
* Good knowledge of CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS & EN Irish, UK standards, or ASHRAE.
* Working knowledge of design software such as Hevacomp, Carrier HAP, CyMap, IES/TAS.
* Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
* Strong communication skills.
