Learning Support Assistant – Flexible Opportunities


Beaminster Area | Part-Time Supply Work | September 2026 Start | £14.25 Per Hour


Support Young People and Enjoy Flexible Working

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking experienced Learning Support Assistants to provide flexible supply cover across a range of specialist SEN and SEMH provisions in the Beaminster area.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy varied assignments, thrive within specialist educational environments, and can confidently step into different settings when schools require additional support. As several provisions regularly require short-notice and planned cover, we are looking for professionals who can quickly establish positive working relationships and make an immediate impact.

These positions are expected to commence in September 2026, although earlier opportunities may be available for suitable candidates seeking work before the new academic year.





About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes. Every day may look different, offering a rewarding and varied working experience.

* Supporting pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
* Providing one-to-one assistance and small-group support.
* Encouraging engagement during lessons and structured activities.
* Promoting independence and personal development.
* Assisting with emotional regulation and wellbeing strategies.
* Supporting positive behaviour approaches.
* Working collaboratively with teaching staff and wider support teams.
* Following individual learning plans and pupil targets.
* Maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.
* Upholding safeguarding policies and professional standards at all times.





What We're Looking For

Due to the nature of supply work, we require experienced candidates who can hit the ground running and confidently adapt to new environments.

* Previous experience supporting children or young people within SEN or SEMH settings.
* A strong understanding of additional needs and personalised support strategies.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* A calm, patient and resilient approach.
* Flexibility and reliability.
* The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider educational team.
* A proactive attitude and genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
