Procurement Manager - Plant and Equipment
Location: Preston, Lancashire – hybrid and flexible working arrangements available. Discuss options with recruiter.
Salary: Up to £66,000, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of Manufacturing Plant and Equipment buyers.
* Contribute to category and project strategy and implement plans to deliver major investments in the Air sector.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, solving problems, encouraging innovation, and creating a motivated, proactive and inclusive team culture.
* Build on existing supplier relationships, ensuring reviews, monitoring and high‑performance delivery.
* Identify and develop new supplier relationships that benefit the business.
* Support and coordinate the team throughout the end‑to‑end procurement process, ensuring customer and supplier issues are communicated and resolved effectively.
* Support external bidding activity on major programmes.
* Contribute to the Indirect Procurement Services strategic direction and delivery of objectives and goals.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Understanding of business and procurement approaches, techniques, processes, policy and strategy.
* Proven experience in a procurement role, ideally within an indirect spend category.
* Commercial awareness and procurement skills; knowledge of how procurement is organised and integrated into the business.
* Experience of contract and supplier performance management.
Desirable Skills
* Degree qualified in a business subject area or equivalent procurement/supply‑chain accreditation (MCIPS, RICS, IAPPM).
* Experience managing a team of procurement professionals.

About the Procurement Team
This team supports the business’ investments in existing infrastructure, new building developments, and product platforms. The role involves day‑to‑day team responsibility and influencing procurement strategy, supplier management, and selection within this area.
