Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Intelligence and Resource Development Officer in the Security Directorate at Broadmoor Hospital.

The Intelligence and Resource Development Officer is responsible for assisting in the delivery of an efficient and effective security intelligence system to help ensure a safe and secure environment for all.The post holder will co-ordinate and administer the data input for the Security Intelligence/Information Reporting system.The post holder will be required to have current operational knowledge of patients, their clinical/security risks and general high risk behaviours that could adversely impact on the safety and security of the hospital. The post holder will interrogate the security database to produce statistical analysis to support the management and reduction of incidents of violence and aggression, subversion of security, hostage taking and other critical incidents.

Applicants must have the ability to contribute to and influence service development and possess excellent communication, investigatory, and analytical skills. An excellent working knowledge of the High Security Psychiatric Services (Arrangements for Safety and Security) Directions 2019, the National Clinical Security Framework, security policies and procedures is also essential.


Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work closely and with the Security Liaison Nurses and the Postal Monitors to maintain the safety and security of the hospital. This will include maintenance of the High Risk Register and Incompatibility List.

The role involves maintaining key relationships with the Director of Security, Security Operations Manager, SLNs, Clinical Nurse Managers, Team Leaders, Consultant Psychiatrists and other Clinical Team Members, Multidisciplinary staff both Clinical and Non-Clinical, Postal Monitors, Police, Prison Service personnel and other NHS Trusts

The post holder is required to assist in the delivery of an efficient and effective security intelligence system to help ensure a safe and secure environment for all and to establish and maintain effective links with all hospital staff and departments as well as key external agencies and organisations e.g. the Police, Prison Service etc.

The role involves the presentation of potentially complex and sensitive security related information to groups and meetings both internally and externally.

The post holder needs to pay great attention to detail and be able to maintain concentration and focus.The workload can be unpredictable including responding to and assisting in the management of serious incidents and emergency situations.

Essential criteria

1. Educated to ‘A Level’ or possess an appropriate equivalent qualification or equivalent experience
2. Evidence of further education and qualifications relevant to clinical security

Experience

5. Experience of working with patients in a forensic services environment

9. An understanding of patients within a forensic psychiatric setting
10. Up to date knowledge of data protection principles and their application
