GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive school in Nottingham. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils who may present with challenging behaviours, providing guidance and support to help them engage positively in education and achieve their potential. Role Overview: As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to promote positive behaviour, manage challenges effectively, and create an inclusive learning environment. You will provide both 1:1 and small group support, focusing on building strong relationships and encouraging pupils to develop their confidence, social skills, and resilience. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will: Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, or social needs both in and out of the classroom. Implement strategies to encourage positive behaviour and engagement. Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group interventions where needed. Assist teachers in maintaining a calm and productive classroom environment. Build trusting relationships with pupils, promoting self-esteem and personal growth. Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to support pupil progress. Requirements for Behaviour Support Assistant: Previous experience working with young people with behavioural or SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. Strong communication, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills. Patience, empathy, and resilience in managing challenging situations. Ability to remain calm under pressure and act as a positive role model. An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
