Overview
Critical Care & Surgery Therapy Service Lead position at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. This is a Band 8A Physiotherapist role in the Critical Care and Surgery Therapy Team.
This is a full time, 37.5 hours per week post with additional weekend and on-call duties. The role is a mixed clinical, strategic and budget holder post for a therapy team covering critical care, medical respiratory patients (in-patients and outpatients), cardiology and surgery. The team includes registered occupational therapists and physiotherapists from Bands 5–7 and support staff from bands 3 and 4. The service is part of the wider Rehabilitation Department with therapy specialities across the Trust sites.
The service is varied in acuity and complexity, requiring excellent therapeutic skills and communication from all staff. The Lead communicates with senior figures within NWAFT and the local health economy to achieve the best patient outcomes and service development within the area and the wider rehabilitation service.
The successful post-holder must have excellent acute respiratory physiotherapy skills appropriate to working on a general adult Critical Care Unit as well as with general medicine and acute rehabilitation patients. Interviews will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills.
Responsibilities
* Provide oversight for the Critical Care, Respiratory and Surgery therapy service and its development across Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke sites.
* Work closely with the clinical specialist and team leader to advance the service in line with departmental, trust, regional and national priorities. Engage with internal and external stakeholders; supported by the Rehabilitation Services Manager.
* Be accountable for the overall performance governance of the Critical Care & Surgery therapy team.
* Lead on service development, audit and research initiatives to deliver best practice evidence-based care.
* Participate in the on-call respiratory physiotherapy out-of-hours rota with the same frequency as others on the rota.
Qualifications & Experience
* Active practitioner with excellent acute respiratory physiotherapy skills for adult critical care, general medicine and acute rehabilitation.
* Leadership and management skills appropriate for a Band 8A role.
