Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

Staff are expected to participate in shift work including evenings and weekends. The shift pattern for this post is to be confirmed.

This is a Fixed term post for the duration between 24/01/26 to 21/01/27. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours. You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.


Responsibilities

* As an integral senior member of the Community addictions service, work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the community addictions service.
* Carry a caseload of alcohol and drug patients and perform nursing duties for all service users.
* Support the duty team; carry out routine mental health assessments required for psychology referrals and any urgent mental health assessments; and arrange requested bloods for any patient and any other nursing duties.
* Assessment, formulation, implementation and evaluation of programmes relating to alcohol and drug recovery using a strength-based recovery focused approach.
* Define the level of need of problematic alcohol and/or drug use patients and provide information and education regarding treatment and support available.
* Provide home visits/near-to-home community environments to implement interventions when the service user is unable to attend the service due to poor physical or mental health.
* Contribute to the delivery of MAT standards, GGC board wide ADRS Alcohol Pathway and ADRS nursing work plan.
* Participate in and provide regular Nurse Supervision and undertake Nursing Line Management responsibilities.
* Promote partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies.
* Supervise the practice of junior staff and students; monitor mentorship/preceptorship responsibilities as important key functions of this role.


Qualifications and Experience

* Currently registered Nurse Level 1 with NMC.
* Two years’ experience at a Band 5 level.
* Preference for addiction or community experience.


Contract Details

This post is fixed term for the duration stated above. The post holder will participate in shifts (evenings and weekends) as required and the shift pattern is to be confirmed.
