A Little More About Your Role…
Do you have a passion for trees? WSP has a large, highly experienced and friendly Ecology and Arboriculture team who get involved with a diverse range of interesting projects across a number of sectors within the UK for both private and public sector clients. The team pride themselves on the integrated support offered by working alongside in-house specialists to deliver commercially balanced, innovative and integrated solutions.
You will be expected to be involved with several projects concurrently and be a proactive member of the team. We have GIS and CAD specialists within WSP so knowledge of these systems is not required but is an advantage. Experience of working with digital data capture devices such as tablets in the field is preferred. The Arboriculture and Forestry team and its projects are spread across the UK so there is flexibility on location.
* Provide support to the Principal and Senior Consultant
* Conduct site-based surveys, assessments, measurements, inspections and monitoring in relation to BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessments
* Collate and interpret arboricultural information from desk studies
* Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and input into arboricultural impact assessments and method statements
* Liaise with design team to develop mitigation solutions
* Conduct data analysis and project management
* Provide support to senior and junior members of the team
* Work on NSIP / DCO projects to prepare reports, feasibility studies and input into impact assessments and method statements
* Perform project pricing for small sites
* Actively participate in recruitment when required
* Encourage career development of junior team members
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
* Enthusiasm for arboriculture and willingness to learn
* Minimum Level 3 qualification in arboriculture or a related field
* PTI certificate (Professional Tree Inspector)
* Experience as an arboriculture consultant or local authority tree officer
* Experience undertaking surveys using digital data capture
* Experience producing high quality technical arboriculture reports for planning applications
* Ability to work in a pragmatic team of arboricultural, landscape and environmental professionals
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and arboricultural survey methodologies
* Flexibility to travel and work away from home within the UK regularly
* Desire to develop core arboriculture and consultancy skills
* Positive health and safety approach and understanding of workplace health & safety
* Professional conduct and act professionally
