Overview
Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/CBT Therapist/Psychotherapist role at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for a skilled and innovative psychological therapist to help shape and develop a new service, in partnership with statutory and third-sector organisations, according to the principles of a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE). The post supports the development of the Rough Sleepers Mental Health Service (RSMHS) and the Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP), embedding trauma‑informed and relational approaches to improve outcomes for people experiencing homelessness and related health needs.
The post holder will be based within the Rough Sleepers’ Mental Health Service but primarily work at SHAP bases, working with service users who have a history of rough sleeping and the staff who support them, and will influence service culture and staff development through supervision, consultation and reflective practice.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership and autonomous practice within the RSMHS, with a focus on trauma‑informed and psychologically‑informed approaches.
* Support colleagues and foster psychological safety through supervision, consultation and reflective practice.
* Work with SHAP staff to embed Psychologically Informed Environment principles, and contribute to the development of PIE within the service and city-wide.
* Where appropriate, deliver direct psychological interventions to SHAP residents while primarily supporting staff development and training.
* Support SHAP staff through training, consultation and reflective practice to enhance client care and outcomes.
* Travel between work bases around the Leeds area as required.
Qualifications and experience
* Qualified Psychologist or Psychological Therapist with post‑qualification experience relevant to homelessness, PIE, and trauma‑informed care.
* Experience of working with people who are homeless, socially excluded and/or difficult to engage by traditional means.
* Ability to provide clinical leadership, supervision and staff development in a multidisciplinary team.
Working arrangements
* Service operates Monday to Friday with flexible hours; occasional evening work may be required to meet service user needs.
* Based in the Rough Sleepers’ Mental Health Service with primary duties at SHAP bases.
* Travel required between work bases around Leeds.
