We are now recruiting for an experienced Site Agent in our Highways Division working on Highways schemes covering all elements of highways works (carriageway construction, surfacing, waterproofing structures, expansion joints, drainage, parapets, VRS, ducting etc). Ideally you will be located close to the Winchester/Basingstoke area and be willing to cover the National Highways Area (Surrey, West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire) for visits when required. Due to the nature of the role, there will be an expectation for some ad‑hoc visits to sites at night.
Main Duties for a Site Agent
* Management of site staff operatives and sub‑contractors.
* Provide method statements, hazard risk assessments and project management plans.
* Understand tender allowances and monitor contract costs against agreed budgets.
* Preparing and monitoring programmes of work.
* Assessment and engagement of sub‑contractors.
* Manage design coordination.
* Manage contracts to ensure timely and profitable completion of contracts.
* Inform, consult, and involve local groups as necessary.
* Foster good relations and reputation with clients.
* Understand and administer contract change.
Qualifications and Experience
* Already experienced as a Site Agent with a relevant industry qualification (HND / HNC / BEng) or equivalent.
* Up‑to‑date SMSTS qualification and a competent CSCS card. A First Aid at work qualification is desirable.
* Experience of managing civil engineering projects with a main contractor, along with previous experience on Highways, Earthworks and Structures projects.
* MUST Haves:
o Be able to maintain and monitor works against a programme and budget.
o Ability to prioritise own workload.
o Able to run multiple complex and non‑complex sites.
o Maintain comprehensive records.
o Compliance with current legislation requirements, including the production and implementation of RAMs and other associated safety/project documentation.
o The ability to forecast cost and programme.
* Experience in the UK civils sector, working with the NEC form of contract.
* Relevant industry qualification (SMSTS or equivalent) and significant main contractor civils experience, ideally within Environment Agency schemes including earthworks.
* Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and hold a full UK driving licence.
