Applicants are invited for this permanent post within the Blood Sciences department at Forth Valley Royal Infirmary. The successful candidate will support the professional clinical laboratory service.
The appointee, under supervision of qualified laboratory staff, will perform routine laboratory and administrative tasks that do not require the skills of a State Registered Biomedical Scientist, including:
1. Receiving and labeling specimens, then distributing them to the relevant department.
2. Performing preparatory procedures on samples.
3. Operating laboratory equipment, including routine cleaning.
4. Accurately inputting patient details into the lab computer system.
5. Entering stock orders into the finance system and managing stock.
6. Handling inquiries from service users and the public.
Applicants should have good keyboard skills, work accurately under pressure, and demonstrate flexibility. A standard grade/national 4/5 in English and Science, along with relevant hospital laboratory experience, are required.
This position requires a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check. Working patterns will be over 7 days, depending on service needs.
