Spire South Bank Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Sterile Services Decontamination Assistant to join the SSD team on a permanent contract, working 37.5hrs per week.
The suitable candidate will come in and work in the department by cleaning, sterilising and packing theatre instruments. Ensuring theatre instruments are correct and ready for use, this role is a physically demanding role which involved heavy lifting.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Undertake routine tasks related to individual’s health and well-being.
• Checking correct instruments are on trays pre and post decontamination.
• Pack linen/instruments/consumables for sterilisation.
• Complete tracking systems accurately.
• Monitor repairs of instruments
• Checking functioning of sterilising and decontamination equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions
• Physical tasks including heavy lifting will also be required.
Who we're looking for:
1. Certificate in Decontamination or NVQ level 3 in Decontamination
2. Or TVQ level 1 & 2 in Decontamination
3. Or City and Guilds Certificates in Decontamination / Endoscopy
4. Self-Motivated
5. Working alone and in teams
6. Basic awareness of health, safety and hygiene
7. English language to IELTS 7.0
8. Principles of infection control, fundamentals of microbiology and aseptic technique
9. Knowledge of SSD machinery
10. Knowledge of basic instruments and equipment
11. Knowledge of sterile packing techniques
12. Knowledge of ISO standards
13. Ability to train and supervise Level I staff in all areas
Contract: Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
