Role: Private Family Solicitor
Location: Dudley
Salary: DOE
This position sits within a well established Family Law team and multi office firm in the Midlands with a primary focus on matters involving domestic abuse, private children disputes, and financial arrangements. You will be responsible for advising and supporting clients across a full caseload, managing each matter from initial instruction through to resolution while maintaining consistent client contact and guidance throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing a caseload of predominantly Legal Aid family matters
* Advising clients on issues including divorce, domestic abuse, children matters (including Children Act applications), emergency applications, special guardianship, and financial disputes
* Representing clients in court and undertaking advocacy where required, including supporting colleagues’ cases
* Building and maintaining relationships with external organisations, particularly domestic abuse support services
* Assessing eligibility for Legal Aid and submitting applications via the CCMS system.
About You
* Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience in family law
* Experience handling privately funded family matters, ideally alongside Legal Aid work
* Familiarity with Legal Aid Agency processes and applications is advantageous
* Strong commitment to delivering high-quality client care
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
* Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
* Proficient in IT systems, including Microsoft Office
* A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
* Experience in advocacy, networking, and business development would be beneficial.
