Payroll Officer
Up to £45k base salary
Hybrid working – 4 days on site 1 from home (37.5 hours per week – core hours 9:30 – 2:15pm)
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to take ownership of the company's payroll operations. This is a stand-alone role within the HR/Finance function, working closely with the Head of HR and wider business to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll delivery.
This position will suit someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys improving processes, and has experience with both manual and automated payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the end-to-end payroll process (monthly cycle) for c. 491 employees.
2. Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, tax, NI, and pension requirements.
3. Oversee onboarding payroll set-up and leaver processing.
4. Maintain and improve payroll policies, procedures, and process documentation.
5. Administer and reconcile payroll journals and timesheets.
6. Collaborate with HR and Finance on audits, reporting, and payroll queries.
7. Act as point of contact for payroll-related queries and explain payslips/benefits to employees.
