Job Overview We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a highly supportive specialist school in Reading. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with students aged 5 to 25, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and are non-verbal. Working alongside another on-site SLT and a wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) with sensory integration expertise, you will contribute to a collaborative approach focused on improving students’ communication skills through classroom-based intervention, skill-sharing, and selective 1:1 sessions. This post is ideal for an SLT with experience in AAC, signing, Attention Autism, and Intensive Interaction. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Deliver specialist speech and language therapy services for students with ASD and complex communication needs. Focus on classroom-based interventions and collaborative working with teaching staff and MDT colleagues. Implement and advise on low-tech AAC strategies and alternative communication approaches. Contribute to skill-sharing and modelling to support the integration of communication strategies across the school environment. Participate in a supportive therapy team, ensuring a child-centred and holistic approach to communication development. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional standards. Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this role, you must have: A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent). Current HCPC registration. Experience working with children and young people with ASD and complex communication needs. Skills in AAC, signing, Intensive Interaction, and Attention Autism approaches.
