Court Team Social Worker - Cheshire East (Children's Care Proceedings)
Cheshire East Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our Court Team, supporting children from the making of Initial Child Orders (ICO) through to the conclusion of care proceedings. This fast‑paced, high‑impact role requires organisation, attention to detail, and excellent report‑writing skills.
About the Role
You will determine the most appropriate care plan that meets the child’s needs while ensuring the least intrusive intervention, working closely with families, legal teams, and multi‑agency partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage cases from ICO initiation through care proceedings, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
* Assess and determine the most suitable care plans for children while minimising intrusion.
* Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports for court, meeting strict deadlines.
* Work collaboratively with families, legal professionals, and multi‑agency partners.
* Attend court hearings, providing professional advice and representing children’s interests.
* Maintain high professional standards and compliance with statutory guidance throughout proceedings.
* Ensure effective case management and record‑keeping in line with Cheshire East policies.
Essential Requirements
* Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or equivalent).
* Social Work England registration (current and active).
* Experience in Children’s Services, specifically care proceedings and court‑focused social work.
* Strong assessment and report‑writing skills, with attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet court deadlines.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
