IGii have an exciting opportunity for a Product Development Engineer to join their rapidly expanding R&D department. You will join our Sensors Engineering team, working closely with our wider R&D department, you’ll play a key role in designing and developing innovative products and processes in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Your purpose in the Role: You will be responsible for managing the design, manufacture and testing of product and process concepts, working on a variety of internal and external projects both independently and as a team. Your main accountabilities will be: Product Design Process Design and Development Concept to delivery for internal and external customers. DOE, Data Analysis, Reports Maintaining Good records/GMP What you will do and how you will succeed: You will contribute to the development of high‑quality products by transforming concepts into manufacturable designs, creating rapid prototypes, and supporting projects from initial idea through to delivery. Your work will blend hands‑on development, strong design-for-manufacture principles, and rigorous documentation aligned with ISO9001:2015. Generate and present product concepts, using 3D CAD to create robust designs with a strong focus on design-for-manufacture principles Develop manufacturing and assembly processes, producing and testing rapid prototypes using a range of internal and outsourced techniques Design and execute structured experiments, analyse data, and produce clear technical reports to support decision‑making Prepare high‑quality technical documentation, including SOPs, process instructions, risk assessments and development reports, maintaining accurate records of all work Participate in project meetings with internal teams and customers, presenting updates and experimental findings to stakeholders Support other product development engineers and the wider team with key stakeholder projects, contributing to collaborative problem‑solving and continuous improvement Develop project workflows, procedures and documentation that align with ISO9001:2015 quality management requirements. Who we are looking for: Degree‑qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., product design, mechanical, manufacturing design, biomedical, or a related field); a Master’s degree is desirable Recent experience in a professional engineering environment, gained through industry roles, internships, or substantial project work Broad hands‑on experience developing laboratory‑based products, test methods or development protocols Demonstrable enthusiasm for new technologies and a curiosity‑driven approach to problem‑solving Ability to analyse and interpret experimental data, with exposure to data‑gathering and selection techniques Practical familiarity with manufacturing and prototyping techniques such as 3D printing, CNC milling, injection moulding or laser cutting (desirable, not essential) Strong design-for-manufacture mindset, with the ability to generate innovative solutions to complex engineering and stakeholder challenges Confident communicator who can present technical information clearly to internal and external stakeholders A collaborative team player with a proactive approach to working across multi‑disciplinary engineering teams Meticulous approach to documentation, record‑keeping and following structured development processes in line with ISO9001:2015 quality management principles We like to see commitment to personal and professional growth, share with us how you have a growth mindset.
