Role Overview

As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of a skilled production team responsible for assembling technically complex, high-value products. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and the Cargo Research Team, you will support the build of a new generation of inspection systems while contributing to product quality, testing, and continuous improvement activities.


Responsibilities

1. Assemble mechanical components and complete systems to engineering specifications
2. Carry out testing of sub-assemblies, including pressure, leak, and coolant system testing
3. Accurately record assembly work, test results, and any modifications completed
4. Work in compliance with ISO quality standards and audited processes
5. Support product quality assurance activities, including root cause analysis of failed hardware
6. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical and production issues
7. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area in line with 5S principles
8. Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork

Qualifications

9. Time-served mechanical experience
10. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
11. Understanding of mechanical fasteners, bearings, gears, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
12. Experience in precision assembly or working with complex machinery
13. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
14. Knowledge of design for manufacture within a production environment
15. Desirable Experience
16. BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Degree in a relevant mechanical or engineering discipline
17. Experience working with pressure systems and ultra-high vacuum systems
18. Experience using lifting equipment
19. Forklift truck and scissor lift operation experience
