Sociology Teacher - Stevenage
Start Date: October 2025 after the half term
Contract: Full-Time leading to a permanent contract
Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Pay: Competitive day rates based on uplifted 4% salaries & paid to scale from day 1
The Role
Responsible for teaching Health and Social Care to pupils in KS4 and KS5 (BTEC), delivering engaging and upbeat lessons in this popular and busy department which will encourage critical thinking and real-world application. You'll have the opportunity to shape a dynamic curriculum and boost students' curiosity about Health & Social work.
Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with the national curriculum
* Encourage focused thinking and real world examples
* Prepare students for GCSE and BTEC assessments
* Contribute to the wider humanities department and school community
* Create an inclusive classroom environment that supports students of all backgrounds and abilities
Ideal Candidate
* Holds QTS (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification) OR experience teaching in the UK
* Has recent experience teaching Sociology in a UK secondary or post-16 setting
* Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a passion for contemporary social issues
* Is reflective, innovative, and committed to continuous improvement
* Has excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to teaching
