Settle Stories is England’s leading storytelling organisation, founded in 2010. Our mission is to collaborate with exceptional artists to create transformative experiences for people & communities. We aim to enable people to share their stories, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with the world.
We create socially relevant narrative-centred art using various media, collaborate with communities through in-person & digital delivery, bring cultural activities & creative expression to underserved communities, and promote creative learning through storytelling for children & young people.
What will you do?
We are expanding our Board to include new experiences, skills, and stories. You don’t need prior trustee experience or a professional arts background. The key is belief in our mission and a commitment to growth and development. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, especially underrepresented groups, including ethnic minorities and disabled persons. We seek individuals with experience in school education, understanding of trustees’ legal duties, confidence with digital tools like Zoom, strong networks, good judgment, creativity, openness, teamwork skills, and adherence to Nolan’s seven principles of public life.
What are we looking for?
Particularly, we are interested in candidates with expertise in teaching and education, knowledge of primary school needs, and familiarity with current educational challenges. An understanding of trustees’ responsibilities, willingness to share networks, and a commitment to our mission are essential.

Experience in primary education, a passion for storytelling and community engagement, and a willingness to contribute to strategic planning and governance.
