The Opportunity
Leonardo has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineering Manager to join the EW Sensors team within the Surveillance and Protection Technology (S&PT) Sector. The EW Sensors team has a portfolio of Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and Electronic Support Measures (ESM) products, including the SEER RWR and SAGE ESM family of products deployed globally across rotary wing and fixed wing platforms. The role involves managing the development of the next generation of RWR / ESM products.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver the project.
* Report to the Head of Engineering Projects and collaborate with the Chief Engineer.
* Develop and execute strategies to meet the Product Maturity & Capability Roadmap, Production Needs, and Support requirements.
* Ensure technical quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
* Manage cross-site engineering teams with clearly defined roles.
* Establish positive relationships with customers and partners.
* Maintain communication across the Engineering IPT and with stakeholders.
* Work with Systems Design Authority on technical progress and risk mitigation.
* Ensure design solutions meet user requirements, are reliable, documented, and compatible with the environment.
* Control project configuration and change management.
* Support supplier management and make-or-buy decisions.
* Define and evaluate concept solutions, including trade-off studies and end-user engagement.
* Line management and travel within the UK.
Minimum Requirements
* Ability to produce clear engineering plans.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Effective schedule and budget control.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Commercial awareness and stakeholder engagement experience.
* Leadership skills with team-working ability.
* Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and business processes.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and possibly overseas.
Desirable Skills
* Experience in the military domain.
* Requirements elicitation and software product definition.
* Experience with airborne equipment development and certification.
* Experience with New Product Introduction.
